Rugby league's authority has announced that players who join the “counterfeit” R360 competition will be banned for a decade.

The new league, scheduled to begin in 2026, is seeking to lure players from union and league with substantial agreements and a condensed playing schedule.

Leading NRL stars have reportedly received offers by the breakaway group, which will involve multiple men's clubs and women's teams based in large metropolitan areas worldwide.

Samoa's the player, who plays for the Warriors in the league, has confirmed he has had talks with the breakaway league.

Papenhuyzen, Zac Lomax, Payne Haas and Jye Gray are also said to be weighing up offers from R360.

Eight major union teams, among them Australia, earlier declared a restriction on players joining R360 playing global fixtures.

“We heard our franchises and we've acted decisively,” stated ARLC head the official.

“Unfortunately, there will persistently exist organizations that attempt to hijack our sport for potential financial gain.

“They don't invest in development systems or the advancement of players. They only leverage the efforts of others, endangering athletes of economic hardship while profiting themselves.

“In truth, they represent, imitating the sport.”

The league is established by retired international Tindall and funded by private investors.

Subsequent to the possible rugby union bans were revealed earlier, it stated: “We aim to collaborate together as integrated into the worldwide fixture list.

“The series is structured with customized calendars for both genders and the organization will allow all athletes for international matches, as written into their contracts.”

The new league will apply for endorsement for its initiatives from rugby union's governing body, rugby union's administrative organization, at its official gathering in the coming year.
